Yash’s adventures with life, business and technology

22 Nov 2006Freshers applying for jobs have always amazed me with their desperation to get a job! I have posted a few job openings on Naukri.com and I have started receiving totally unrelated applications from aspiring candidates (mostly just out of their colleges). I get really annoyed when people apply to any and every damn job with the word software or IT in it. Come on man, at least read thorough the job specifications before hitting that Apply button!
What really gets on my nerves is when people send bulk emails to recruiters. See a sample resume that I received today -

I call this spamming and treat it just like that! If you can’t spend half a minute to send an exclusive email to me, then why the hell should I take out my time to read your resume? Such resumes end up in my trash bin straight away! I am not sure if there are other recruiters/employers like me (may be I am the only one of the species) but I really believe if these people can’t take out some moments to at least write a personalised email for an important thing such as job hunting, then they will never be able to do anything special in their lives!
Why they don’t teach how to apply for a job in engineering colleges? Today the market is hot and these people are in demand so they can get away with such unprofessional behaviour and will eventually land a job somewhere. What will happen when India’s biggest USP – the cost advantage – starts to vanish? How will these people survive then?
